Review: The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

Ever since I started wearing makeup, getting said makeup of has been a continued struggle. Starting out with bi-phase eye makeup removers, and continuing with micellar waters, there has been no single product that could get rid of all makeup without a lot of rubbing. Enter the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter.

I’ll be honest with you: the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter has only been the second cleansing balm I’ve tried. But by the looks of it, it will be an all-time favourite. Texture, smell and performance are all off the charts. A worry I had was that the balm would melt in the tin while in the bathroom. But this fear has so far been unsubstantiated. With the temperature outside more like a toaster oven than anything, the Cleansing Butter has remained solid throughout. Then the smell: I’m not sure how chamomile is supposed to smell (I only know it from teas), but the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter smells fantastic. Light and not too overpowering, it helps me to calm down after a long and stressful day.

Lastly, the performance. This cleanser defeats everything. Super waterproof liner and mascara, layers of foundation, sunscreen and powder all melt away with just the tiniest amount of balm. I mean, just look at the photo! I’ve purposefully used the same spot to see how long it would take me to reach the bottom. It took me almost 2 weeks! I’m in love!

Alone on its own, the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is an amazing product, especially at its affordable price point. But even when comparing it, the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter remains a superb product. As my reference I have the only other balm cleanser I’ve ever used; the Double Cleanse by Pixi+Caroline Hirons. One of the issues I had with the double cleanse, was that I needed quite a lot of product to really remove all liner and eyebrow products. The Double Cleanse also did liquify a little while sitting on the bathroom shelf and smelled like nothing. Which is absolutely fine if you don’t like your products to smell, or are sensitive. But I quite like a bit of scent in my products.

Overall the Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is an amazing product, that gets rid of makeup quickly and effectively. I highly recommend this to everyone who likes to double cleanse and is looking for a good oil cleanser. Only if you have sensitive skin, I’d advise you get a little tester from the Body Shop first to see if the scent is ok for you.
