There are quite a few cult beauty products that can truly be considered “cult”. A product that most definitely deserves this description is the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. And because I have awesome friends, I received a trial kit with several of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream products for my birthday.
Within the set, there are the original Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, the Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment and the Lip Protectant. At first, I was really excited about the Skin Protectant but it turns out, the lip balm is the bomb! But one thing after another.
The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant is an orangy, waxy balm that can be used on pretty much anything. The story goes that Elizabeth Arden even put it on her prized horses. I’ll stick to my face and elbows, thanks. Since the only really dry, irritated part of my face is around my nose, I went and slapped the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant on there for a week. Let me tell you: magic happened! The area smoothed out and stopped flaking whenever I put on a foundation. And the best part: my nose did not get oilier.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment
Meanwhile, the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment is a whole other kind of product. Where the Skin Protectant is heavy, the Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment is light and fast absorbing. With the small size (it’s a trial kit after all), it’s been in my handbag non-stop. And whenever I’ve dolled it out to friends, they too were surprised by what a tiny dot of cream could do.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant
Last but not least: the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant. Oh my lord, I usually hate having to stick my finger into a lip product in order to apply it. But with the Lip Protectant I actually look forward to needing some lip balm. Not that I need it much. Once applied the Lip Protectant stays even when eating greasy food (pizza). My lips feel just wonderful whenever I apply it. And I’m definitely guilty of over-applying it. #totallynotsorry
Overall, the three products have a lovely, slightly medicinal smell with a dash of citrus. I am tempted to call it “Eau de eight-hour cream” because it is so very distinctive. From the three products, the Skin Protectant smelled the strongest, and the Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment the least. A little goes a long way, especially with the Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment which I appreciate massively.
I already know, that once empty, I will repurchase the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant. I sure hope they sell it separately. Otherwise, the set will be just fine as well. You can never have too much skincare or hand cream after all!
